Privacy Policy

Metaskil does not use cookies for collecting user information from the site. You may be asked for personal information if you would like to take advantage of specific services we offer. In each case we will only use the personal information that you provide in line with the statement provided at the time of collection.

This privacy statement only covers the Metaskil website; It does not cover any links within this site to other websites.

This site has security measures in place to protect the loss and alteration of information under our control.

If the privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page.

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We will only use your information for the purpose as described.

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small text file placed on your computer that uniquely identifies you. It tells our Web servers when you return to a page you’ve already visited. We use cookies when we send you an email with a link to a Web page, to automatically enter your email address on a Web page form, so you don’t have to type it.

In general you may visit our website without providing us with any personal information. However, there are times when we may need information from you, which includes your internet address so that we can track unique visits to our site for analytic purposes.

A new EU law regarding the use of cookies has come into effect which requires websites to ask visitors for their consent to use most cookies.

There are a number of cookies that we use:

Our cookies

‘_utma’, ‘_utmb’, ‘_utmc’ and ‘_utmz’

These are used by Google Analytics to anonymously count visits to the site and tell us patterns in how the user moves around the site, again enabling us to make the site better.

Third party cookies

Cookies for certain other services (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, AddThis) are set by the embedded content. We don’t control these cookies so for more information we advise you to check those services’ cookie policies.

Most browsers will enable the use of cookies by default. Therefore if you wish to opt-out of the use of cookies you will need to change your browser settings. However, switching off cookies may restrict your use of our website and/or delay or affect the way in which our website operates.

The open nature of the internet is such that data may flow over networks without security measures, and may be accessed and used by people other than those for whom the data is intended. While this is out of our control, we aim to apply appropriate levels of security at all times.

Our website uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) to enhance security when entering sensitive data. TLS is the industry standard technology for protecting and maintaining the security of message transmissions over the internet. When you enter sensitive data from secured sites, encryption will scramble your data into an unreadable format to inhibit unauthorised access by others.

Open rates and clicks

Metaskil sends email and tracks the open rates of the HTML version of these messages. This allows us to improve the quality of the messages we send. Metaskil cannot track open rates on plain text messages. Metaskil may also track clicks on Web site links included in the messages.

Metaskil employs the use of transparent images in our messages for tracking purposes. This only tracks open rates of messages that have been deployed by Metaskil. Upon opening, messages sent from Metaskil will send a notification to our internal reporting services.

General Data Protection Regulations

The Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) came into force on 25th May 2018 and implements the standards set out in the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

This section sets out information, for customers, suppliers, and others that have a relationship with Metaskil, on Metaskil’s DPA compliance.

Data Protection Officer

Metaskil does not require a Data Protection Officer.  Ian Faulkner, Director, leads on all data protection issues.

Processing of Data

For interim placements Metaskil does not deal directly with private individuals; its customers and suppliers are all businesses.  For permanent placements, we do deal with private individuals.

All information about people, irrespective of whether it is for interim or permanent placements, will be treated with the same level of care.

Metaskil is both Controller and Processor of the data that it holds.  It uses data to:

  • Filter and select candidates
  • Create contracts with both customers and suppliers
  • Raise invoices
  • Pay invoices
  • Communicate

No unnecessary data is held.  No sensitive data is held.

Data is held in four ways:

  • Data Server
  • Accounting Software
  • E-mail
  • Mailing Service.

Data is accessed by desktop/laptop and mobile devices.  All such devices have password or other device-specific security.  All passwords are complex.

Data Server

Metaskil holds data on its own Data Server.  Access to the server uses WebDAV, with each user having a unique User Name and Password.  Administrator access also uses 2-Factor Authentication

WebDAV access uses TLS.

The data is backed up to a local USB device and to Google Drive.

The server location has an access alarm, connected to a monitoring service.

Accounting Software

We use Sage One to processes accounting information.  Our Accountant accesses Sage to prepare end-of-year accounts.

E-mail

Metaskil uses Office365 for e-mail, with local copies of e-mail on laptops.  All laptops are password secured.

Mailing Service

Metaskil uses Mailchimp for sending mailshots and newsletters.  Whilst contact details have been gathered in a business-to-business (B2B) context every e-mail sent allows opt-out.

Mailchimp provides a number of features (such as management of opt-outs) to help Metaskil to enforce DPA compliance.  More information can be found at https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.

We also ‘buy-in’ mailing lists.  Our primary supplier has confirmed that all contacts that it sends us are B2B.

Access to Data

Should you want to see, or obtain a copy of, the data that we hold about you, please contact Ian Faulkner at ifaulkner@metaskil.com.

Deletion of Data

Should you want us to delete the data that we hold about you, please contact Ian Faulkner at ifaulkner@metaskil.com.  Please note that we cannot delete financial or contractual information for seven years.  Should you receive a mailing from us and want to opt-out, click the button at the bottom of the e-mail.

Data Breach Policy

If we are notified of or detect a potential data breach we will first investigate to ensure that the source of the breach is identified and, if necessary, closed.  If our investigation shows that there has been a breach, we will:

  • Notify the Information Commissioner’s Office and other bodies as appropriate
  • Assess the level of risk of the accessed data
  • Notify those impacted by the breach and inform them of any actions that they should take
  • Take appropriate steps to stop the breach being repeated.

HR Policy

It is the policy of Metaskil to employ full-time employees and interim staff entirely on their merit. The Company and its employees will not give preference to any person as a result of his or her gender, race, creed, age, religion or physical disability, nor will they discriminate against any person on any of these bases. On the contrary, we will endeavour to provide support to any persons who may be disadvantaged so that they can be fairly considered for a role on the basis of their knowledge, skills, and personality. This policy also applies to the selection of contract staff.
