Senior Embedded Systems Developer

I have a great opportunity for a Senior Embedded Systems Developer with an interest in a wide range of electronic disciplines including microcontrollers, power supplies, RF/RFID, digital and analogue.

The Senior Embedded Systems Developer should be a multi-disciplined engineer with primary experience in both electronic hardware and firmware development. They should also have a good understanding of how this will fit within the overall mechanical design and how it will interface with software products.

The role will involve all aspects of the electronic product development life-cycle from initial concept through to production, covering design, PCB layout and firmware development, as well as other supporting tasks such as creating test fixtures and documentation.

  • Candidates should have demonstrable experience in electronic product development using embedded C. The following experience would certainly benefit your application:
  • Engineering degree in Electronics or equivalent discipline
  • Experience developing electronic products from the ground up through to production
  • Electronics design skills (across microcontrollers, analogue, digital and power supplies)
  • Experience with full PCB design process covering libraries, schematic, PCB layout and manufacturing file generation
  • Experience with firmware design and debugging (embedded C)
  • Experience with performing electronic testing and using common test equipment (oscilloscopes, bench PSU, multimeters etc.)
  • Good hands-on prototyping skills – soldering, wiring, mechanical
  • Good working knowledge of various communication interfaces such as CAN, RS232, RSS485, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet etc.
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong documentation and writing skills
  • Experience selecting and sourcing electronic components

On offer is a salary up to £55,000 depending on experience plus discretionary bonus scheme, life cover, company pension, etc. There is a flexible working environment with the opportunity to work from home and the office in Olney, which is commutable from Milton Keynes, Northampton and Bedford. Please note: the nature of the role will mean that visits to the office in Olney are required for some prototyping and testing tasks. At present the team visit the office every Wednesday as a sync point and on other days as tasks require.
